Juice part

When one of my beloved dogs died I knew I had to find another companion for his eight-year-old sister. I have had whippets before and loved the clean bodyline and turn of speed so I thought about the possibility of adopting a rescue greyhound. This led me to Melita and the wonderfully informative ‘GreyhoundAngels’ website. Melita encouraged me to visit with my other dog, Ami, so that we could play ‘perfect match’. It was love at first sight and so Juice, an ex-racehound, became a member of my family.
After four months, what can I say other than Juice didn’t need toilet training, doesn’t have a doggy smell, doesn’t mind being washed, is extremely intelligent (learns quickly) and good natured, and, surprisingly, is bone lazy. For some reason I thought he would be highly active and run around the backyard most of the time. No, he is very much a housedog and is content to be stretched out on his bed or lying on the floor when you are indoors. He likes to howl (along with Ami) at the emergency service sirens but actually does this lying down with his head draped over the end of his bed. He loves being walked, is extremely obedient on a lead doesn’t tug or walk in front of you and walks well with Ami. He adores car rides and joins Ami and myself on our shopping excursions – he is content to curl up on the back seat with Ami until the car is moving again.
He is extremely playful but not boisterous. He currently has two squeezy ‘dog’ toys and loves to pounce on them and throw them around to get a squeak out of them. Mind you, the lambswool duster was about to get the same treatment until I retrieved it from him.
